Pacific Neuroscience Institute celebrated EMS week with events and training on advanced stroke knowledge and lifesaving care.

In honor of Emergency Medical Services (EMS) week, a week of appreciation for the service of parademics, EMTs, and the EMS workforce in the community, Pacific Neuroscience Institute’s Stroke and Neurovascular Center experts hosted events and trainings on advanced stroke knowledge and lifesaving care at Providence Saint John’s Health Center in Santa Monica, and Providence Little Company of Mary in Torrance.

On May 16th, 2022, the stroke team at Providence Little Company of Mary put on an event to honor the pre-hospital rescue teams that assist in treating stroke patients and ensure that these patients are brought to the hospital safely.

The stroke team works with EMS to provide the highest level of stroke treatment for the South Bay community and surrounding areas. The stroke team provided live demos with devices used during acute stroke treatment and showcased cases that were done from patients that were brought in by EMS personnel.

PNI’s EMS partners are on the frontline of stroke care. Providence Saint John’s Health Center is classified as a Comprehensive Stroke Center and the patients in our local communities benefit from EMS’s advanced stroke knowledge and lifesaving care.

Education included video of the most advanced therapies, live demos with devices used during acute stroke treatment, educational trivia, and real-time, one-on-one education with neurointerventionalists, such as Pacific Neuroscience Institute‘s Jason Tarpley, MD, PhD, Director of Pacific Stroke & Neurovascular Center, and Saint John’s Stroke Program Coordinator Lisa Arnold.
