Michael Ricks
Chief Executive Providence Saint John’s Health Center
Michael Ricks was appointed chief executive for Providence Saint John’s Health Center in September 2019. With more than 23 years of healthcare leadership experience, Michael is a well-respected leader within Providence having served the past four years as Executive Vice President and Chief Operating Officer for Hoag Memorial Hospital Presbyterian.
While at Hoag, Michael was responsible for the day-to-day operations of its Newport Beach and Irvine campuses and its health centers across Orange County. His collaborative leadership style and passion for driving best-practice initiatives resulted in growing Hoag’s five nationally ranked clinical institutes, expanding Hoag’s ambulatory footprint throughout coastal Orange County, and working with caregivers to improve the quality and financial performance of Hoag.
Prior to joining Hoag, Michael served in a variety of leadership positions including: Hospital President and CEO, Chief Operating Officer, Vice President of Operations/Business Development and Service Line Administrator for nationally recognized organizations such as Sentara Healthcare and Dignity Health.
Michael was born in Laguna Beach and earned his Master of Health Administration degree at Washington University’s School of Medicine in St. Louis, MO. Michael enjoys an active lifestyle having completed Ironman triathlons, marathons and countless cycling events.
Michael serves on the PNI Foundation Advisory Committee.
